31. Three essential early literacy skills for young readers

Did you know that children can display symptoms of dyslexia as early as 3 years old?  Seriously!

You might wonder how that’s even possible when three year olds mostly don’t know their letters and sounds, much less know how to read.

The short answer is that dyslexia lies with a deficit within an early foundational pre reading skill.  And guess what… we know what that skill is… we also know that it can be taught… and when we teach it, students' reading achievement improves!

So listen up primary teachers!  Today's episode is for you.
